Website Management
• Publish relevant publications such as press releases, reports, position papers, etc., ensuring they are SEO-optimised;
• Support the development of website content;
• Maintain the events calendar on the website;
• Ensure the information on the website is up to date.
Social Media
• Draft posts to promote relevant publications and advocacy work of the organisation on social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram);
• Upload videos to YouTube and ensure the channel is organised and up to date;
• Assist in preparing and keeping track of the content calendar;
• Show initiative in increasing the organisation’s social media following.
Member Relations
• Assist in keeping the members’ portal updated with relevant documents and news;
• Assist in communicating with members about key events/news and legislative developments in Brussels;
• Keep the list of members up to date.
Event Management
• Assist in promoting events via the website, social media, email campaigns, and other communication channels;
• Assist with the logistics of organising external events and conferences, including venue, catering, technical aspects, etc.;
• Assist with the back-end management of virtual events;
• Liaise with journalists and media organisations to extend the reach of events.
Media Relations
• Assist in establishing, developing, and maintaining relationships with the media (press, radio, TV, etc.);
• Assist in monitoring media coverage and compiling press clippings and mentions related to BETTER FINANCE’s activities and campaigns;
• Assist in maintaining and updating press and stakeholder contact databases.
Other
• Assist in drafting and disseminating the monthly newsletter;
• Support the preparation, scheduling, and segmentation of email campaigns;
• Monitor website and social media analytics to help evaluate performance and suggest improvements;
• Collaborate with all team members to ensure tasks are well executed, particularly in relation to research;
• Assist in developing educational materials such as infographics, social media educational posts, and/or videos;
• Assist with the design of report covers, social media posts, and other promotional materials.
The Communication Assistant will work closely with the Communication Officer and will report directly to the Director of Communications.

Qualifications

Required qualifications
• Educational background or first professional experience (including internship) in communication;
• Strong writing skills in English;
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.);
• Experience with WordPress web management;
• Experience in social media management;
• Interest in IT and willingness to assist with basic functional IT tasks and troubleshooting of commonly used applications.
Desirable (but not mandatory):
• Prior experience in digital communication;
• Some knowledge of SEO;
• Experience with graphic design, especially proficiency in Canva;
• Knowledge of EU institutions and decision-making processes;
• Keen interest in financial markets and financial regulation;

• Adaptable to changing priorities and able to manage time independently
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and dynamic team
Language Skills
• Fluency in English;
• Knowledge of French and/or Dutch is desired, but not required
Information Technology (IT) Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive)
• Familiarity with SharePoint for intranet management
• Basic knowledge of WordPress
• Basic knowledge of Canva
• Basic IT troubleshooting (e.g. email clients, file-sharing tools, software issues)
• Understanding social media platforms and their posting functionalities
