NoDescription of the tasks to be undertaken by the trainee(s):
Providing support to different tasks within the team's portfolio, which encompasses different projects related to biodiversity conservation in Europe. Currently, these projects fall under the following three workstreams: Pollinators, European Red List and Invasive Alien Species (IAS).
The primary focus of this internship will be to assist the team on ‘Support to the Pollinator Action Plans’; a project working to facilitate the implementation of three Species Action Plans for threatened pollinators across the EU. Responsibilities related to this specific project will include:
• Conducting desk-based research and compiling existing data on various topics related to the threats, status and existing protections of the target species and their habitats
• Supporting communications related to the project, including leading on some tasks such as interviews and production of content for social media
• Assisting the team in tracking progress, updating timelines and task lists, collecting data and compiling reports
• Mapping to identify additional stakeholders for engagement with the project, to assist in the widening and strengthening of the relevant network
• Supporting the organisation of workshops and events, both online and in person
• Assisting the team in a range of administrative tasks on a day-to-day basis
• Producing social media content for other projects within the team’s portfolio
• Supporting communication and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
• Supporting the development of biodiversity resources related to the team’s other projects
Profile of the Trainee
Qualifications
• Affinity with the vision and mission of IUCN and a strong interest in and good understanding of European conservation initiatives, including EU biodiversity and pollinator targets;
• Communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences;
• Strong analytical, organisational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills; detail- and outcome-oriented, with the ability to proactively follow up on tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality outputs;
Personal and Social Skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team, with an interest in project-based work and stakeholder engagement, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
Language Skills
Complete fluency in the English language, including excellent demonstrated English writing skills; good level of written and spoken Spanish is an asset but not required;
Information Technology (IT) Skills
Sound understanding of digital tools and platforms, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, excel and PowerPoint) and familiarity with communication and design tools such as Canva or similar platforms;
