The intern will support occupational and recreational activities under the supervision of the professional team. Responsibilities may include:
• Assisting in the planning, preparation, and delivery of occupational and recreational activities (e.g., arts and crafts, music sessions, games, sensory activities, exercise routines, and cultural programmes).
• Supporting residents in participating actively and safely in group and individual activities.
• Encouraging social interaction, engagement, and positive communication among residents.
• Preparing activity materials, organising equipment, and ensuring activity spaces are clean, safe, and appropriately set up.
• Observing residents’ participation, motivation, and general well‑being, and reporting relevant observations to the supervising staff.
• Assisting in the organisation of thematic events, seasonal celebrations, and well‑being initiatives.
• Promoting inclusion, autonomy, and meaningful occupation aligned with each resident’s abilities.
• Contributing to documentation related to attendance, activity records, and planning.
• Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to maintain a supportive, respectful, and engaging environment.
Profile of the Trainee
Qualifications
Eligibility requirement: minimum Level IV qualification for the position of Monitor Assistant.
• Supervision and guidance provided by Casa de Saúde Câmara Pestana’s professional staff.
Personal and Social Skills
We are seeking candidates who demonstrate:
• Motivation to learn and interest in psychology, gerontology, or related fields.
• Strong sense of responsibility, empathy, and patience.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to different situations and work as part of a team.
• Organisational skills and a proactive attitude.
• No previous experience is required, though it is considered an asset.
Language Skills
Accepted languages: Candidates who speak and understand: Portuguese, Spanish, English, or French are welcome, provided they can communicate effectively with staff and residents.
Information Technology (IT) Skills
Not required.
Other Skills
Ability to communicate with clarity, empathy, and respect in any of the accepted languages is essential.
