How to get there:
By plane: From Barcelona-El Prat Airport, you can take the Aerobús (A1 or A2) towards ‘Plaça Catalunya’. From there, take bus 22 towards El Carmel to the stop Pg Mare de Déu del Coll – Cartago, right in front of the hostel.

By train: From Sants Estació, you can take the metro (green line; L3) to Vallcarca, exit via the elevator on Av. República Argentina. Then, take bus line 22 towards ‘El Carmel’ at stop 2800 Av. República Argentina-Vallcarca to stop 848 Pg Mare de Déu del Coll, in front of the hostel.

Other buses: After 22:50, bus 22 is replaced by the night bus N-5.
Rooms and meals At the hostel, you will share a room with other participants of the Eurodyssey program. You will have access to clean sheets and towels every week. Laundry for your personal clothes is not covered by the program.

During your stay at the hostel, breakfast (8:00 – 9:00), lunch (13:00 – 14:00), and dinner (19:00 – 20:30) are included. You must inform us before arrival if you require a special diet.

Description of the tasks to be undertaken by the trainee(s):

The intern will provide support to the Local Employment Service and to the technical staff of Tortosactiva, the Employment Department of the City Council of Tortosa. The internship will focus on assisting people in situations of social and labour vulnerability, offering guidance and support in their employment and training pathways.

More specifically, the intern will be involved in the following tasks:

- Supporting the reception and initial attention of job seekers, particularly individuals facing vulnerability or social exclusion, who require assistance related to employment, training opportunities, administrative procedures and access to public services.

- Assisting the technical team in the implementation and management of employment and activation programmes promoted by the Catalan Employment Service (Servei d’Ocupació de Catalunya – SOC), aimed at improving employability and labour market integration.

- Providing support in personalised guidance and accompaniment processes for participants belonging to specific target groups, such as young people, residents of the historic city centre (a socially vulnerable area), people over 30 years old, long-term unemployed individuals, people over 52, women, and beneficiaries of the Guaranteed Minimum Income (Renda Garantida de Ciutadania).

- Registering and updating participant information in internal databases and employment management systems, ensuring accurate follow-up of individual employment pathways.

- Collaborating with the technical staff in the organisation, monitoring and evaluation of activities related to employment orientation, training actions and labour insertion.

- Offering administrative and operational support to the employment services team, contributing to the daily functioning of Tortosactiva’s employment programmes.

Profile of the Trainee

Qualifications

Preferably, candidates should have an academic background in Psychology. However, applicants with qualifications in social-related fields, such as Social Work or other social sciences, will also be considered suitable for the internship.

Personal and Social Skills

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong social and interpersonal skills, consistent with a social-oriented academic background. Key competencies include effective communication skills, empathy and active listening, as well as the ability to establish supportive and trust-based relationships with individuals in vulnerable situations. Sensitivity to social issues, a collaborative attitude, and the capacity to work as part of a multidisciplinary technical team are also essential.

Language Skills

Preferably, candidates should have an intermediate level (B1–B2) of Spanish or Catalan, allowing them to communicate effectively with service users and the technical team. Knowledge of English will be considered an additional asset.

Information Technology (IT) Skills

The candidate should have basic user-level computer skills, including the ability to work with standard office software and digital tools, as well as to manage and update information in databases and internal management systems. Familiarity with online platforms and digital communication tools will be valued.

Other Skills

Profiles with knowledge of social media management and basic skills in image capture or audiovisual content creation will be positively valued, as they may support communication and outreach activities related to employment programmes.

Tortosactiva is a highly dynamic department with a strong sense of team cohesion. The intern will receive continuous support and guidance from the technical team and will be assisted whenever needed to ensure a positive and enriching internship experience.
