O estagiário fará parte da equipa responsável pelas ações que estão a ser desenvolvidas pelos projectos de conservação ao abrigo do programa LIFE, que visam proteger os habitats naturais que existem na ZPE Pico da Vara / Ribeira do Guilherme, localizada na região nordeste da ilha de São Miguel, Açores, área onde ocorrem as últimas manchas de Floresta Laurissilva e de turfeiras da Ilha, habitats ameaçados e em risco de desaparecer.
O estagiário irá apoiar nas ações de restauro ecológico destes habitats naturais nomeadamente ao nível do combate a flora invasora, preparação de estruturas de controlo de erosão, plantações e manutenções; ações de monitorização que visam acompanhar a evolução destes habitats naturais, o sucesso das intervenções de controlo e invasoras, e o sucesso das plantações de espécies nativas; produção de plantas endémicas da Macaronésia na estufa do projeto.

The trainee will be part of the team responsible for the actions that are being developed by the conservation projects under the LIFE programme, which aim to protect the natural habitats that exist in SPA Pico da Vara / Ribeira do Guilherme, located in the northeast region of the island of São Miguel, Azores, an area where the last patches of laurel forest and peat bogs of the island occur, endangered habitats and at risk of disappearing.
The trainee will support the ecological restoration actions of these natural habitats, namely at the level of combating invasive flora, preparation of erosion control structures, plantations and maintenance; monitoring actions that aim to follow the evolution of these natural habitats, the success of control interventions and invasive species, and the success of native species plantations; production of Macaronesian endemic plants in the project greenhouse.

Profile of the Trainee
Qualifications
Licenciatura em biologia, engenharia do Ambiente, engenharia Florestal ou similares.
Degree in biology, environmental engineering, forestry engineering or similar.
Personal and Social Skills
Motivado para trabalhar em projectos de conservação ambiental, capacidade de trabalho em equipa, ser capaz de desenvolver trabalho de forma autónoma, bom relacionamento interpessoal.
Motivated to work on environmental conservation projects, ability to work in a team, be able to develop work independently, good interpersonal relationship.
Language Skills
Inglês e se possível português.
English and if possible Portuguese.
Information Technology (IT) Skills
Conhecimento de Office. Conhecimentos de SPSS e de GIS são uma mais-valia.
