Regions – Hosting and Sending Trainees

Regions are in charge of organising the practical aspects of:

  • Hosting young people from the other participating regions to do a traineeship in their region;
  • Sending young people from their region to do a traineeship in the other participating regions.

Hosting young trainees

  • Promoting Eurodyssey towards companies (“host organisations”) and bulding partnerships with them, for them to hire trainees under the Eurodyssey programme;
  • Organising the practical aspects of the trainees’ accommodation. Two options are possible:
    • Option 1: the trainees are responsible to find their accommodation, with the Host Region’s assistance and advice (e.g. websites, agencies, flatshare with other trainees and students, trusted landlords…), and receive an adequate monthly stipend from the region to be able to cover their rent;
    • Option 2: the Host Region provides accommodation to the trainees, meaning that the trainees don’t have to look for or pay for accommodation themselves. Depending on what the Region provides (and availability), trainees will be hosted in a shared house or shared flat with other trainees, in youth hostels or student residences, or with a host family.
  • Organising and financing language training. Two options are possible:
    • The trainees are enrolled by the Region in existing, potentially free, courses / programmes in employment agencies, universities, etc.
    • The Region provides the trainee with a separate stipend for them to enroll in a language course themselves, among courses recommended by the region.
  • Remunerating the trainees, whether through a scholarship, stipend, compensation, salary, depending on the applicable traineeship regulations in the region.
  • Drawing up a traineeship convention between the partners (region, trainee, company).
  • Following up with the trainees and evaluating their traineeship, together with the company.
  • Organising social and cultural activities for the trainees to discover their host region and culture.

Sending young trainees

  • Informing young people in their region about Eurodyssey, e.g. through Student Fairs, Job Fairs, Mobility Fairs, universities, vocational training centres, digital communications…
  • Reviewing and approving the young people’s applications. When young people register on the website, mentioning their origin region, this region will automatically receive their profile and will be able to review it. This way, they can ensure that young people indicating their region meet the eligibility criteria to take part in Eurodyssey (age, residence in the region), and they can forward relevant applications to the host region, for a given traineeship offer.
