Eurodyssey traineeships are paid
Eurodyssey trainees are paid. The nature of the remuneration varies depending on the applicable paid traineeship regulations in the region:
- Option 1: the trainees receive a monthly grant / stipend / scholarship;
- Option 2: the trainees receive a salary. For example, some regions are required by law to remunerate trainees with the minimum wage applicable in the region / country.
What’s the difference? A salary comes with social security contributions / taxes, generally deducted at source (i.e. deducted from the gross salary), the filing of a tax return in the host region, and potentially in the origin region too. Worry not: if applicable, the regions and/or your employer will explain you how and when to declare your income. In some regions, being registered as a job seeker is mandatory to take part in the programme, so the employment agency managing the Eurodyssey programme for the region will also provide you with the necessary information / form.
Trainees are generally paid in the end of the month.
Accommodation
In addition to the monthly stipend, Eurodyssey trainees are provided with support to find accommodation. There are two options, depending on the Destination Region:
- Option 1: the trainees are responsible to find their accommodation, with the Host Region’s assistance and advice (e.g. websites, agencies, flatshare with other trainees and students, trusted landlords…), and receive an adequate monthly stipend to be able to cover their rent;
- Option 2: the Host Region provides accommodation to the trainees, meaning that the trainees don’t have to look for or pay for accommodation themselves. Depending on what the Region provides (and availability), trainees will be hosted in a shared house or shared flat with other trainees, in youth hostels or student residences, or with a host family.
