Description of the tasks to be undertaken by the trainee(s):

Youth for Exchange and Understanding Cyprus (YEU Cyprus) is a non-political, non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Cyprus ( It was established in 1995 with the aim to foster closer co-operation and better understanding among the young people of the world through the exchange of information, experiences and ideas. It is one of the biggest youth organizations in Cyprus numbering more than 1000 members. It is considered to be one of the most active organizations of the island realizing several activities both on international and local level. The intern will Job Shadow all three positions of the organization. The intern will learn: -how to deal with project management and coordination through various European Projects, -administrative duties, -update of the organization website and -how capacity building takes place at an NGO level. During the first week of the programme the intern will firstly get familiarized with YEU Cyprus and its actions, get to know the people who are involved with the organization and get familiar with Nicosia. The next three weeks will be preparatory weeks for the job shadowing which will follow the next month. In those weeks the intern will get familiar with all the projects which the organization is actively engaged in and which responsibilities each officer has. After the preparatory activities the intern will start job shadowing the officers and assist them in their daily schedule. During the second month the intern will be more active in all projects namely EU and local ones e.g. training courses, structure dialogue projects etc. The intern will also have the opportunity to assist in reporting on previous projects and the writing of new applications for EU funding. Moreover, the intern will have the ability to research and assist in the creation of new policies for the organization hence helping in the capacity building of the organization. Finally, the intern shall be present in project meetings, as well as, Board meetings of the organization taking minutes and reporting with the guidance of the officers.

Profile of the Trainee


A First level University degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent). A University Degree in European Studies, Political Sciences, Sociology or Law would be considered as an advantage.
